Connection issue with the EDC on MacOS when using a Windows OAS registered with an FQDN on the OSM

When a Windows OVD Application server (OAS) is registered with its Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) in the OVD Session Manager (OSM), the Enterprise Desktop Client (EDC) on MacOS can't start a session.

This issue is related to the Microsoft DNS resolution mechanism enabled in the OVD Session Manager. MacOS is not compatible with this protocol.

The OSM server ends up with the type of FQDN in the image below :

  • Stop the OVD service on all the Windows OAS servers defined by a name.
  • Change the server FQDN in the OVD Administration Console to an IP or DNS name
  • Edit the /etc/nsswitch.conf file on the OVD Session Manager server and remove the mdns4_minimal support as host provider
  • Start the OVD service on all the Windows OAS servers
  • Check that servers are properly connected on the OVD Administration Console
